Review: 41166 Elsa's Wagon Adventure

Journey with Elsa and Sven through the enchanted forest.

The front of the box shows the set as part of the enchanted forest. The snow and aspen overlay image is consistent with the other sets in this series. The 4+ logo in the lower left corner lets us know that this set is designed for young builders. The bottom has the Disney Frozen II logo and choking hazard warning. Anna and Elsa are both illustrated on the lower right corner.

The back of the box shows all of the builds, figures, and accessories included in this set. On the lower left corner is an alternate view of the complete set against a forest background. The image is inset with a Nordic inspired boarder. On the lower right side is the Perfect Start logo and circle showing some of the larger pieces that make construction easier for a younger builder.

The top of the box shows Elsa with Sven and a baby reindeer. Another inset image with the Nordic border pattern shows Elsa as the 1:1 ratio example.

The bottom of the box (not shown) has trademark and recycling information.

The side of the box names the set in French and Spanish. It also has the box front image set within the Nordic border.

The other side of the box (not shown) has the LEGO Life logo. The Perfect Start banner and choking hazard warnings are repeated in French and Spanish.

Inside the box there is a staple bound instruction book and two bags of parts. Sven and the baby reindeer are each in a separate soft plastic bag. One lavender 8 x 8 modified bricks with 1 x 4 indentations and 1 x 4 plate is loose in the box. This is a new color for the Frozen II 4+ sets and also appears in set 41165 Anna's Canoe Expedition.

Opening up the first bag, we have all the pieces for building Elsa's wagon, including a bag of smaller parts and several fun printed parts. We will take a closer look at those below after pointing out a few other new parts and colors for this set.

The bright light orange 2 x 2 x 1 top opening container is new for 2019. It is also used in sets 40361 Olaf's Traveling Sleigh and 41167 Arendelle Castle Village.

The two 4 x 6 x 1 2/3 curved vehicle base pieces in dark blue are exclusive to this set. This piece first appeared in magenta in set 10723 Ariel's Dolphin Carriage (2016).

Dark turquoise was a new color for the 1 x 4 arch bricks and 2 x 3 plate in 2019, but not exclusive to this set. The 1 x 4 x 1 1/3 curved top modified brick first appeared in 2018 in the Brickheadz set 41623 Ariel & Ursula and in set 10260 Downtown Diner. All the dark turquoise pieces are still fairly rare so it's nice to get more of them.

4+ sets always use prints instead of stickers, so it's worth taking a closer look at these as they are exclusive to this set. Both the 1 x 4 bricks and the 3 x 2 brick with 33 degree slope have nice Nordic patterns which will help give this set the proper Arendelle look.

There's nothing new or rare in the bag of small parts, so let's get building. First up is Elsa.

This is a new look for Elsa and only appears in this set and set 41168 Elsa's Jewelry Box Creation. Her dress is bright light blue with metallic blue hems. The top features snowflake pattern and an open back, while the long skirt has a medium lavender mountain pattern around the hem. White boots with metallic blue snowflakes are fashionable even if the cold doesn't bother her. A long, split cape in glittery cloth flows behind her to finish her royal look.

Next we fit Sven with his saddle. The magenta, 2 x 2 plate with center stud will be removed when Sven is hitched to the wagon.

Now that Elsa and Sven are ready, it's time to build the wagon.

The printed pieces add a lovely bit of Nordic detail to the wagon. The wagon has a wide bench seat with two 1 x 2 x 1 panels with center divider so two mini dolls could sit next to each other. It makes me wish Kristoff was included with this set. It seems strange to see Sven without him. Who will translate for Sven?

Behind the bench there is plenty of room for cargo. For now, we add a container box with a carrot for Sven, but there is still room behind that for another package.

Let's move on to bag two...

Bag two will create several small side builds that set the scene for Elsa's adventure.

The 3 x 3 x 5 quarter cylinder with 2 arch tops is a new piece for 2019. It is also used in Set 41164 Enchanted Treehouse. It's a great piece to quickly start a tree.

The 8 x 8 plate with rounded end is new in lavender and also appears in set 41164 Enchanted Treehouse.

The 6 x 5 plants leaf in bright light orange was new for 2019, and is included in several of the Frozen II sets.

Taking a closer look at the exclusive printed pieces, both the bright light orange 2 x 4 tile the magenta 5 x 8 x 2/3 curved slope add beautiful Nordic details.

The 1 x 6 x 5 panel with dark bluish grey tress, aspen trees, and magenta, orange, and yellow leaves is also used in set 41165 Anna's Canoe Expedition.

There is nothing new in the bag of small parts, but I'm always happy to get more leaf pieces.

The first side build is a little picnic area complete with a medium lavender basket, trans-clear bottle, and trans-dark pink mug. The printed tile makes a nice blanket for the picnic.

If Elsa is stopping for a picnic, Sven needs something to eat as well, so we build a small hay feeder. It's simple but effective. The orange 1 1 round plant plate with 3 leaves give just the right touch of autumn atmosphere. The yellow 1 x 2 modified brick with flutes makes an adequate hay bale.

Next we build a little cookie box and put a cookie inside. This will fit on the wagon behind the storage container.

The largest part of the scenery is the stable with watering trough and fire pit for roasting marshmallows. This is were we add the new baby reindeer.

The print on the 5 x 8 x 2/3 curved slope give it the look of a Nordic blanket, and the stable feels more like a temporary resting spot rather than an actual building.

There's nothing much to see around the back, except an extra bale of hay inside the tree.

Here's a closer look at that adorable baby reindeer. There is no articulation, but it does have a stud on the back.

As expected with a 4+ set, there are not many spare parts left.

The instructions end with an adventure map showing all the set in the Frozen II theme.

Here is the completed set with the wagon and all the side builds.

Elsa has stopped toast some marshmallows and have a picnic, while Sven and the baby reindeer get to know each other.

Sven's hungry after pulling the wagon around the enchanted forest. While he eats, Elsa bushes the baby reindeer.

I think this would be a fun set for a young builder just getting into LEGO or who is a fan of the Frozen movies. The wagon allows Elsa to travel around the enchanted forest on endless adventures, while the side builds make for a comfortable camp.

This set is a nice addition to the rest of the Frozen II series, and many of the pieces will be useful in my collection.

Happy Building!
