Raya is Disney's newest Warrior Princess who is on a quest to unite the five Kingdoms of Kumandra -- Heart, Fang, Talon, Spine & Tail -- in the movie Raya and the Last Dragon.
Let's look at what we can discover in the Heart Palace ...
Then build Tuk Tuk's saddle with gear.
The sand green round plate with shaft for clip are somewhat rare.
Then we begin with the hinged base of the Palace; it uses newly re-colored Dark Azure hinge bricks. The white 2x2 plate with bow gets hidden in every segment under the flooring.
Building linear style for the base completes bag 1 parts, with spares. Each section is a bit unique.
Before we get to bag 2, let's see more details of our new mini-dolls and animals:
Princess Raya of Heart is of course the central character as the guardian of the Dragon Gem -- and she's wonderful in mini-doll form!
Her woven hat in traditional Southeast Asian style is actually connected to her hair. Her belted wrapped top in deep burgundy has shiny gold highlights -- somewhat snake skin pattern -- which continues around her back.
Her braid shows down the back length of her hair -- which begins above her forehead (in the movie).
Her cape and sword gives her that wonderful warrior princess look!
A closer look at Raya's Hair/hat piece shows the beautiful detail of the weave. The integrated hair part is hard plastic like the hat. I was actually surprised by this, as many mini-doll hair/hat parts have rubbery hair. You can see her braid going down the back.
There isn't a separate hair piece for her to wear without the hat. I would love a hair piece with her center braid!
Her brand new in LEGO form curvy Sand Green "serpent" sword!
Her cape is red and darker on the other side; made of thick, very subtle cloth and easy to attach.
Tuk Tuk is her companion here, and is one solid LEGO mold. A giant re-imagined pill-bug and pug hybrid creature -- which can roll into a ball. The LEGO version doesn't -- although still cute!
Princess Namaari from Fang land is Raya's nemesis, ever since she tricked her when they were young ... and she is awesome in mini-doll form as well. Her hair piece is rubbery -- which was a surprise to me, as many short cuts are hard plastic. Luckily she has her close-cut hair printed on her head piece. The way her center leg section is red, to represent a hanging sash, is brilliant.
Her Serlot cat isn't a new mold, yet lovely new color and printing.

Bag 2 starts with building onto each section at a time; for the turntable we build this rotating panel with a map easel, and painting of Sisu (The Last Dragon).
Bag 2 starts with building onto each section at a time; for the turntable we build this rotating panel with a map easel, and painting of Sisu (The Last Dragon).
The Kumandra map: Kumandra was divided into five lands: Heart, Tail, Talon, Spine and Fang, all connected by the vital Dragon River. It's printed with shiny gold accents
on a red 2x3 tile; it's new and also in the other two Raya sets.
The lighter blue parts of the Sisu sticker have a nice sheen.
Newly re-colored parts in bag 2 are: 1x4x5 wall with bowed slit in bright blue, and the Teal connector part of pneumatic use Function Element, female friction rams, is also found in polybag 30558 Raya and the Ongi.
The wall and connectors as columns begin to take shape, along with lovely golden artwork on curved walls as hidden compartments. The reclining throne chair is very beautiful and detailed in person, so I wanted to get a picture before it's concealed somewhat by columns.
Bag 2 parts finish off this much. Instructions indicate to build with hinges closed. There are 3 spares.
I couldn't resist curving it a bit already; yet we must keep building straight. Each end section has a mystery compartment. The map and painting of Sisu go on the black turntable.
Bag 3 contains two new parts for 2021: the 4x4 Sphere with knobs which appeared first on a Friends Helicopter in Vibrant Coral -- here it's Teal, and is also found in Vidiyo sets (plus several other colors).
Also new-for-2021 part is the 1x3 brick with outside half arch and cutout -- found here in Medium Azure; also in 43184 Raya and Sisu Dragon and polybag 30558. It's in several other colors and sets.
We use those parts to build the yellow frog pagoda sections, then install on top.
Finishing off bag 3 parts, we get the minarets and gold domes and spires. The gold clips help secure the Teal connector parts as columns, and are probably more sturdy for play and moving the palace around -- than actual column pieces.
Only a spare white 1/4 round tile and gold spire.
The soft bag contains both 13M with 3.2 Shaft Shell pieces with print #2 in Teal, which is new and unique to this set; although the mold is used as hot air balloon in Trolls. We only get 2 in this set, so if you want to make a balloon ...
The floral outline in gold printing is beautiful.
Onto bag 4 we find some rare parts and colors: Bright Blue 6x6x2/3 circle plate with reduced knobs is otherwise found in Super Mario sets. Half circle 2x6 plate in Cool Yellow is only in 2 other sets. The Dark Red box crate is only otherwise in Sesame Street.
We start building interior furniture items, such as dining table and Tea counter -- and a Bonsai using the tan arch/window parts -- love it! Then we use a newly-re-colored into Dark Azure 2x2 bow/slope with lovely Bunga Raya flower sticker as the lid for the crate, which holds 6 jewels and a yellow frog.
After adding the rest of the interior, we build the bedroom section separate. The 2x2 Vibrant Coral tiles with the Bunga Raya flower (celebration flower) stickers are rare. The top round plate that is 8x8x1 is somewhat rare in Teal; first appeared in Sweet Mayhem's Starship.
The multi-color hanging lantern is lovely!
The dome bed section attaches to the white turntable -- and is very easy to rotate.
From Left to Right: Table (altar) with candles and yellow frog; Bonsai; Teapot counter with scissors to trim the Bonsai; cool yellow table with water goblets and fruit; then the locked crate goes into the last section.
View of the front so far -- and all of bag 4 parts added. This bag has loads of small parts, as there's loads of details.
There are 21 spare parts from bag 4.
The Bright blue 1x2 plate with vertical stub is new in this color and only here and 43184. The globe shaped mini helmet is somewhat new, with this Transparent Opal version new-for-2021. It's the Dragon Gem and it's only in this set, polybag 30558 Raya and the Ongi, and Sesame Street. The White 4x4x2/3 plate is only in 2 other sets (Mario). Warm gold 2x4x1 1/3 with side bow, which is typically a vehicle part, is only in 2 other sets: Nian, and Master Wu Dragon.
Finally we get to curve it! The pathways to various palace rooms connect to the center Last Dragon Gem. Even though a sticker, that round graphic of Sisu is gorgeous!
I've pulled out all the mini-builds to get a better look at them.
Bag 5 parts complete the Palace by connecting the sections the center. We add more colorful, long hanging paper lanterns near each doorway.
One side secret compartment holds Namaari's swords.
The other secret compartment has Raya's serpent sword.
The crate is easy to remove via center stud tiles.
Stickers: Luckily they come sealed in wrap with the instructions booklet. The lighter blue parts have a sheen. I was surprised the large round of Sisu was a sticker -- seeing the box art, it seemed printed. It was a bit tricky; it seems best to focus on the center 4 grey studs for positioning -- rather than sides.
The box is quite large. I placed a 3-brick-tall "Friends" brick in front of it to help show box size.
Box back shows all the activity -- such as Namaari trying to get the map using that revolving panel. You can also see this set can connect with 43184 Raya and Sisu Dragon. (There is a photo of them connected in that review.)
The box is sealed with tape, yet has perforated tab flap for re-closing the sides.
I've shown what parts are new and rare; the complete list of parts are compiled on LEGO's instructions PDF.
Raya and the Last Dragon movie poster LEGO-fied.
Raya riding Tuk Tuk.
One more look at the Heart Palace, with Raya riding her Tuk Tuk -- while Namaari and her Serlot prepare to fight over the Dragon Gem!
Summary:
Using four various blue colors to blend in with the gold and white truly makes the mini-build items pop. There are many great part usages to get a builder thinking of other ways to use them.
Teal is such an alluring color for the onion dome, and the clever use of inside anti-studs for hanging etchings is fun.
For both the building pleasure and wonderful parts I would recommend this set to AFOL MOCers. Even though it's a large set, the value is tangible. It would look great on display too. Disney in LEGO form has become just as much visual art as tactile!

Summary:
Honestly, I'm quite enamored with this set :-)
I
thoroughly enjoyed the linear hinged, then vertical, build techniques.
Angles are getting more sophisticated in LEGO builds. The sideways
cheese slopes for structure angles is also inspirational and gives that
extra detail.
Using four various blue colors to blend in with the gold and white truly makes the mini-build items pop. There are many great part usages to get a builder thinking of other ways to use them.

Definitely need to pick this up, and also see the movie.
